On Tuesday, February 6th the guidance department is offering a field trip to the Sussex County Community College McGuire Technical Education Center. The McGuire Technical Education Center is located at 47 Main Street in Newton. This facility hosts three different areas for technical training: Automotive, Welding, and Culinary Arts.
Seniors: If you have been thinking about learning more about post-secondary technical education this trip will allow you to explore possible hands-on studies for after graduation.
Juniors: Newton High School has an agreement with SCCC that allows our 12th-grade students the opportunity to complete classes at NHS in the morning and then participate in one of these programs at the technical center in the afternoon. You would be considered a jump-start student so you would pay a discounted credit rate for the courses at SCCC. This would also allow you to earn credits at both SCCC and NHS for your technical classes.
