Introducing new staff!!
Hi I’m Courtney Moran! I’m excited to be a part of the rocking 5th grade team here at Halsted! I teach 5th grade Math and Science. Before I found my forever home here at Halsted, I taught a year of 6th grade Earth Science, two years of 8th grade Life Science, and two years of Kindergarten. I have an 11 year old daughter who attends Canfield Avenue School. I can’t wait to get started helping your children navigate their first year of middle school and help empower them to reach their personal and academic goals.

#184DaysofBrave: Day 9 Congratulations to Trey McClure, winner of the Sussex County 2024 Veterans Day Pin Design Contest! Trey is in 8th grade, and his artwork was selected from over 70 submissions in Sussex County.
Scholars also came together on Wednesday to honor those we lost in 9/11 by wearing Red, White, and Blue. Go braves!
#184DaysofBrave: Day 8 Introducing New Staff!! Mrs.Camacho is teaching 6th grade math and science at HMS for the 24-25 school year. She worked the past two years as a teacher's assistant, but this year is her first year as a classroom teacher. In 2023, she completed her degree in Plant Biology from Rutgers University. She enjoys spending time crocheting, hiking, or hanging out with her four dogs. Mrs. Camacho says this year she is most excited for getting to know the students better and fostering a new love of math and science!

#184DaysofBrave: Day 6 Introducing New Staff!! My name is Michael Licata and I am very excited to be working here at Halsted Middle School! I am joining the Special Education department which allows me the opportunity to teach all students from 5th to 8th grade which I am very excited about. I have taught middle school for many years and enjoy the energy and excitement the students bring to the classroom. My hope is to educate our scholars here at Halsted and inspire them to enjoy learning.
Our first Halsted Book Fair of the year will run from 9/23/24 - 9/26/24 during the school day from 7:45 - 2:40.
We will also host our Book Fair from 6PM to 8PM on 9/26 during our Back-to-School night.

Our scholars had a chance to sign-up for our awesome Halsted Music Program today with Dr. Young and Mr. Miller! Schedules will be posted on the morning announcements.
Band and Choir sign-ups will occur during Lunch and Recess on Monday 9/9! Scholars present in school on Monday will all have a chance to sign-up. Anyone not present in school can see Dr. Young or Mr. Miller to sign-up the next time they are present!

After another exciting day for scholars, our Halsted staff gathered for an informative and updated safety protocol meeting with our School Resource Officer, Officer Bellis of the Newton PD. Keeping students and staff safe is our top priority!

Scholars were lined up bright and early this morning to start our first day of school for students! You could feel the excitement in the air across the board!

Staff at Halsted and across the district gathered today for our first in-service day back to school! All NPS staff learned about the benefits of AI in the classroom and our HMS staff had a wonderful and informative first staff meeting of the year!
C2C Registration for the 2024-2025 school year is now open! Our after school program is free and open to all Halsted Students!

We are excited to announce that our very own music teacher Mr. Miller will be starring in a production of Shakespeare's Macbeth as Macbeth! The production runs July 27th and 28th at Riverside Park in Port Jervis, NY! Ticket information is available below. Break a leg Mr. Miller!
